Hedge trimming
Trimming generally maintains an established shape - keeping an already well-managed hedge neat, rather than significantly changing its size.
Hedge reduction
Reduction involves removing considerably more growth to decrease the overall height and/or width of an overgrown hedge. It's a bigger job, and the amount that can safely be removed depends on the species and condition.
